Earth Arts unites artists and artisans in the upper St. Croix valley to promote creativity, mutual support & awareness of the arts. The members organize and promote special events such as the annual studio tour and many give regular community education classes. We also have a good amount of fun.

August 16, 2008 (1 p.m - 7 p.m.) - Earth Arts Boutique at Lamar Music Festival
Earth Arts has a special art boutique at this year's Lamar Music Festival on Saturday (festival runs from August 15th-17th) just outside of St. Croix Falls, WI. Come check out some art and have a festival of fun. More info and directions on the Lamar Web site.
May 23 - 25, 2008: 6th Annual Garden and Art Sale
This annual event at the Café Wren in Luck, WI, features 20 artists including seven Earth Arts members: Tiffany Meyer, Julie Crabtree, David DeMattia, Jane Meinz, Cynthia Rintala, Win Herberg and Dave Stone. Spring may actually be here by then so plan on stopping by and supporting your local Earth Arts artists (9 a.m. to 6 pm each day). Download a flyer for more info and directions.
- May 14, 2008 (WEDNESDAY): Monthly Earth Arts Meeting

- April 2008 : Monthly Earth Arts Meeting
EA Member, Val Weber, is hosting the April meeting at their house this month.
- March 15, 2008: David DeMattia unveils his newest "animatronic" at Gallery 135
EA member, David N. DeMattia, will be débuting his newest work, Robobird II, on Saturday, March 15th at Gallery 135 in St. Croix Falls. The high tech animatron will perform a very entertaining 3.5 minute song and dance routine along with its robot back up singers, Peep 1 and Peep 2. Robobird II was made possible by a grant awarded to David from the McKnight Foundation. A selection of David’s past sculptures & animatronics will be on display from 10 am to 4 pm. There will be a wine and cheese reception from 4-5 pm followed by a brief presentation, performance and Q&A from 5-6 pm. For more information see his press release.
- March 16, 2008: Earth Arts Life Drawing Co-op
On the first and third Sundays of the month during February and March, Earth Arts is having a life drawing co-op in Café Wren's community room in Luck, WI. (Hwy 35, just north of town). Starting up again in Fall 2008. For more information contact Laura Tiede (715-488-2957).

Painter Kami Polzin's web site lists her upcoming classes and workshops. Marc Hanson's web site lists painting classes he's offering around the country during May-August 2008.

- February 9, 2008: Monthly Earth Arts Meeting

- January 18, 2008: Deadline for 2008 Earth Arts Studio Tour!!
The EA Spring Art Tour is coming up on May 3-4, 2008. The due date for members to apply to be on the tour is January 18, 2008. We encourage artists to apply as soon as possible (20 artists as of Jan. 12th). Many members are willing to host you at another location if your studio is too far off the beaten path. Earth Arts trip to Georgia O'Keeffe exhibit was great!
On January 6th, eight Earth Arts members traveled to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and took in the Georgia O'Keeffe show and had a margarita and a bite to eat at the nearby Taco Moreles. Here's a pic that made it into the local newspaper. Click the image for a larger version.
- January 12, 2008: Monthly Meeting - Earl Duckett's Studio
In addition to the good food and get together, we'll be electing a slate of new officers for 2008 & annual dues are due! More information and a map here.
January 6, 2008 (Sunday) - Georgia O'Keeffe at MIA!
Members and others are heading to the Twin Cities to see the Georgia O'Keeffe exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. It is recommended that you buy your tickets in advance ($8 - buy online - call them at 1-888-642-2787) for the 12:30 p.m. entrance time.

After seeing the exhibit, those who are interested will be joining in a convivial meal and libations at a nearby watering hole. There are people carpooling, if you need help in connecting with someone contact Laura Tiede. FYI, the MIA opens at 11:00 a.m. People can arrange to go earlier and wander through other exhibits (which are free!).
- December 8, 2007 (Sat) Annual Earth Arts Holiday Party!
This year our annual holiday party is being hosted by Ted and Shirley Zinn in beautiful downtown Amery, Wisconsin (starting 6 PM). Come one, come all. As in past years, members in attendence are invited to bring a piece of their art if they would like to participate in a gift exchange (random drawing). - George Tzougros, Director of the Wisconsin Arts Board, will tour the state in November 2007 to inform interested persons about changes in the Arts Board granting procedures. He will be in Spooner and Eau Claire on November 15th.

- Free Workshop: Health Fair for Artists (sponsored by Springboard for the Arts)
For ALL artists, arts administrators, and their families. There will be health-related workshops, low-cost screenings, a flu shot clinic, and representatives of affordable health insurance, nutrition, fitness, low-cost clinics, and alternative care. As in past years, there will be hourly seminars on topics of special interest. And we are adding financial planners to the roster- they can help you design a plan for a healthy future, without the high pressure.

- Benefit to help with medical costs for Turtle Lake artist and organic farmer, Ken Keppers, to be held on Sunday, October 21, 2007, at the Amery Senior Center from 4:30 - 8:30. p.m. (meal, music and silent auction).
Ways to help:
1. Donate a piece of art or a service (eg. yoga or art class) to be auctioned
2. Make a donation to Friends of Keppers at Bremer Bank in Amery (can also be mailed to Friends of Keppers, P.O. Box 42, Amery, WI 54001 and will be matched by Catholic Charities and the Casino)
3. Attend his open house at the farm on the weekend of the 29th.

- Springboard for the Arts is proud to be partnering with the New York Foundation for the Arts to bring Linda Park, NYFA Source Program Director, to our region to conduct three workshops for individual artists on using this amazing resource. One meeting will be in Menomonie, WI, Saturday, Oct. 13th, 9:30 - 11:00 am, Micheels Hall, Room 290, UW Stout Campus. Pre-registration reqd. More details.
